Madhya Pradesh Govt Increases DA to 58% Ahead of Holi, Over 7 Lakh Employees to Benefit
Holi Gift for MP Employees: Government Announces 3% DA Hike: Ahead of the festival of colors, the Madhya Pradesh government has brought cheerful news for its employees and pensioners. The government led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced a 3 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners.
With this decision, the DA has increased from 55 percent to 58 percent, bringing it at par with the rates provided by the central government. The move is expected to benefit more than seven lakh state employees and millions of pensioners across Madhya Pradesh.
Implementation from April 2026
The government has stated that the revised DA will be implemented from April 2026, and employees will see the increased amount reflected in their May 2026 salaries and pensions. However, the order will be considered effective from July 2025, which means employees will also receive arrears for the period from July 2025 to March 2026.
Arrears to be Paid in Six Installments
Instead of releasing the entire arrears amount at once, the state government has decided to disburse it in six equal installments starting from May 2026. This arrangement will allow employees to receive an additional amount along with their monthly salary, offering financial support during a time when rising prices continue to affect household budgets.
How Much Will the Salary Increase?
The DA hike will have a noticeable impact on monthly earnings.
For example:
- If an employee has a basic salary of ₹50,000, they earlier received ₹27,500 as DA at 55%.
- After the increase to 58%, the DA will become ₹29,000, resulting in a monthly increase of ₹1,500.
Similarly, pensioners will also benefit:
- A pensioner with a basic pension of ₹30,000 previously received ₹16,500 as Dearness Relief.
- With the new rate, the DR will increase to ₹17,400, providing an additional ₹900 per month.
Festive Cheer for Government Families
The announcement has come just before Holi, making it a festive gift for government employees and pensioners. Employee organizations had long demanded that the state match the central government’s DA rate, and the latest decision finally fulfills that demand.
With inflation continuing to affect everyday expenses, the DA hike is expected to provide significant financial relief to government employees and retired personnel across the state.
Overall, the Holi announcement has added extra color and joy to the celebrations for lakhs of government families in Madhya Pradesh.
