Rajasthan Panchayat poll dates out, to be held in 4 phases: Rajasthan Chief Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh on Saturday announced dates of panchayat elections in the state. More than 4 crore voters will exercise their franchise in these elections. With the announcement of the election dates, the model code of conduct has come into force in the state.
Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh held a press conference and announced the election schedule. Panchayat elections in the state will be conducted in four phases.
First phase voting – 25 October
Second phase voting – 31 October
Third phase voting – 6 November
Fourth phase voting – 16 November
The nomination process for Panchayat elections and Zilla Parishad members will be started from October 8 and last date for filing will be October 13. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations is October 15, with the Panchayat election process set to conclude by November 28.
The rule of 50 percent reservation for women in panchayat elections is applicable in the state. Women will occupy the sarpanch post in 7,201 out of 14,403 gram panchayats, with elections to be conducted in 1,30,584 wards.

Elections for Panchayati Raj institutions will be held in 41 districts of Rajasthan. Elections for 1,403 Zila Parishad members will also be held in 41 Zila Parishads. Elections for 8,245 Panchayat Samiti members will also be held in 457 Panchayat Samitis. Sarpanch elections will also be held in 14,403 Gram Panchayats. There are a total of 1,30,584 wards in these 14,403 Gram Panchayats. Approximately 169,000 Panchayati Raj representatives will be elected. Zila Parishad members will elect 41 district heads. Panchayat Samiti members will elect 457 Pradhans. Elections for Sarpanch and Ward Panchs will be conducted using ballot papers. Elections for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be conducted using EVMs.
