Rishabh Pant left out of West Indies ODI squad

The selectors did not even considered Pant as the second- choice keeper for the one day internationals

Rishabh Pant left out of West Indies ODI squad: Star wicketkeeper- batsman Rishabh Pant has been omitted for the three match ODI series against West Indies. Pant last played in an ODI series against Sri Lanka in August 2024.

On Wednesday, when the selectors sat down to pick up the white ball squads for the ODI series against West Indies, expectations were strong that Pant will return to the format. But he was overlooked. Dhruv Jurel was picked in his place. The selectors did not even considered Pant as the second- choice keeper for the one day internationals. Pant will captain the Rest of India team in the upcoming Irani Cup. This will provide him with valuable competitive match practice as he returns to domestic cricket.

However, the reason for his non-selection was due to his limited impact in white-ball cricket. Jurel, on the other hand, was the fifth-highest run-scorer in the last Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament, scoring 558 runs in seven innings at an average of 93, with two centuries and four fifties. Another al-rounder Hardik Pandya is yet to regain full fitness and will not return to action for the West Indies series.

India’s ODI Team: Shubman Gill [C], KL Rahul [VC], Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Naman Dhir.
