Heatwave Alert for 5 Days
Severe Heatwave Alert: Scorching Heat to Continue for Next Five Days: Odisha continues to suffer from extreme heat as temperatures remain dangerously high across the state. People are struggling with intense hot weather and humidity, with the mercury touching 46 degrees Celsius in some districts. The Regional Meteorological Centre has said that there will be no relief from the heat for the next five days, up to May 26. Weather experts also predict that temperatures could increase by another two degrees during this time.
The heatwave is expected to remain severe in western Odisha over the coming days. Normal life has been affected badly due to the scorching conditions. Jharsuguda recorded the highest temperature of the season at 46 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Last year, the town reached 47 degrees on May 31.
According to the weather department, places like Sambalpur and Jharsuguda are likely to continue recording temperatures around 46 degrees in the coming days. Districts including Bargarh, Boudh, Balangir, Titilagarh, Nuapada, and Angul are also expected to experience above-normal temperatures.
