Siddaramaiah Resigns, Shares Emotional Reaction
Siddaramaiah Gets Emotional While Resigning: Siddaramaiah ended all political speculation by resigning as Karnataka Chief Minister. After submitting his resignation, he said he had followed the instructions of the party High Command.
He said the High Command had earlier asked him to step down and expressed confidence that the Governor would accept his resignation. Since the Governor is currently out of the state, Siddaramaiah handed over his resignation to the Governor’s Secretary.
He thanked Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress workers, MLAs, and MPs for supporting him since he joined the party in 2006. Siddaramaiah said he could not have become Chief Minister without their support.
Speaking about his tenure, he said he had the opportunity to serve the people of Karnataka both as Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition. He also accused the opposition of spreading misinformation about Congress’s guarantee schemes.
Siddaramaiah said he had always been ready to resign whenever the High Command asked him to do so. He added that Congress still has a strong majority in the Assembly, with support from independent MLAs as well.
