Who is D.K. Shivkumar? A Look at His Education, Salary, and CM Benefits: The power-sharing agreement made in Karnataka two and a half years ago now seems to be taking effect. After a meeting in Delhi with Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced his resignation. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is now likely to become the next Chief Minister of Karnataka.
D.K. Shivakumar’s Education: D.K. Shivakumar completed his schooling in Kanakapura and earned a BA degree from R.C. College in Bengaluru. Later, while continuing his political career, he completed a postgraduate degree in Political Science from Karnataka State Open University, Mysore, in 2006.
Salary and Benefits as Chief Minister: At present, as Deputy Chief Minister, D.K. Shivakumar earns around ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh per month, including allowances. After becoming Chief Minister, his salary and allowances are expected to increase to around ₹2.5 lakh to ₹3 lakh per month.
As Chief Minister, he will also receive several official benefits, including the main government bungalow, Z-Plus security, a bulletproof vehicle convoy, and access to the state aircraft for official travel.
