Team India led by Shreyas Iyer won the first T20 against Zimbabwe by 7 wickets in Harare on Thursday (July 23). This was the first victory of Team India under Iyer’s captaincy. Before this, Men in Blue had to face 6 consecutive defeats under Iyer’s captaincy. 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made an important contribution to India’s victory. Vaibhav scored 50 runs in just 19 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes.
Team India won the toss and decided to bowl. Batting first, Zimbabwe put 125 runs on the board after losing 7 wickets after 20 overs. Team India came to the field for the run chase and won by 3 wickets in 13.2 overs. Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav took the most 2-2 wickets for India in the first innings. Apart from this Shivam Dubey and Ravi Bishnoi got 1-1 success.
The start of the Indian team for the chase did not go well. The team lost the first wicket in the form of Abhishek Sharma on 23 runs. Abhishek scored only 01 runs in 8 balls. After this, Vaibhav Suryavanshi teamed up with Ishan Kishan for the second wicket and brought the team to a good score by sharing 45 runs in 21 balls.
The team lost the second wicket in the form of Suryavanshi for 68 runs. Then captain Shreyas Iyer came to the field to bat. Ishan and Iyer shared a partnership of 46 runs (31 balls) for the third wicket. The third blow to the team came in the form of Ishaan Kishan, who scored 35 runs off 24 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.
After this, Shreyas Iyer and Tilak Verma shared an unbroken partnership of 12 runs (11 balls) for the fourth wicket and won the team. Captain Iyer scored 28* runs, while Tilak played an innings of 06* runs.
