Wangchuk Ends Hunger Strike After Government Assurances
Sonam Wangchuk Ends 26-Day Hunger Strike: Educationist and social activist Sonam Wangchuk has ended his 26-day hunger strike. In a video shared on X on Friday, he said his next step will be to ensure the government keeps its promises.
Wangchuk said Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, along with 65 MPs from different parties, met him and requested him to end the fast. The MPs also promised to raise issues like the NEET paper leak and education reforms in Parliament.
He added that the government assured him that no legal action would be taken against people who joined the peaceful ‘Chalo Parliament’ protest. It also promised action on the NEET paper leak and support for the families of students who died by suicide after the controversy.
Wangchuk was first admitted to Safdarjung Hospital and was later shifted to Medanta Hospital after the Delhi High Court said he needed treatment under specialist doctors.
