Trump administration suspends visa appointments, tightens immigration policies: The United States has temporarily suspended visa appointments for applicants from around the world. The development comes amid the Donald Trump administration’s tightening of immigration policies.
The US State Department Spokesperson on Tuesday said that a global training initiative has been launched at all US embassies and consulates around the world. The visa services appointments will be rescheduled for this training. Applicants whose appointment has been rescheduled will be given a new date later.
The Trump administration is now ramping up deportation efforts focusing on stricter immigration policies. This includes revoking visas, green cards and application rejections for various reasons. This includes political opinion and pro-Palestinian protests against the US ally Israel’s attack on Gaza.

On Friday, a US judge overturned the Trump administration’s policy that banned the issuance of immigrant visas to applicants from 75 countries. The judge said that this policy is outside the legal jurisdiction of Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
