Vande Mataram Row: BJP’s Vikas Puttur files complaint against Sonia Gandhi: Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leaders have filed a formal complaint against Congress leader Sonia Gandhi for allegedly insulting ‘Vande Mataram’. BJP leaders alleged that the conduct amounted to disrespect towards the national song, while Congress dismissed the charge as baseless.
BJP leader Vikas Puttur along with party workers filed a complaint at Mangaluru’s Urwa police station on Sunday. In his complaint, he alleged that Sonia Gandhi had asked Vande Mataram to be stopped in the middle. He had objected to the complete Vande Mataram song. Puttur has demanded that an FIR should be registered against Sonia Gandhi and legal action should be taken against her. He has warned that if the FIR is not registered, then he will go to the High Court with his complaint. Police need not come under any kind of political pressure said Puttur.
While, the Congress rejected these allegations and said that there was no attempt to stop the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ and that Sonia Gandhi was only asking to bring a chair for the Congress President.
