Zomato charges extra for Cash On Delivery

Zomato has increased its charges from Rs 5 to Rs 20 for Cash On Delivery orders.

Zomato charges extra for Cash On Delivery: Online food delivery platform Zomato has levied additional charges for Cash On Delivery orders. The fee is not uniform for all users. It can change based on factors such as order value and the customer reports said.

On Saturday, a separate fee called ‘Pay on Delivery Fee’ appeared for some users’ order bills on the company’s app. The fee is applicable only for customers who choose to pay cash on delivery option, instead of online. The charges has been increased from Rs 5 to Rs 20. Notably, this charge is not same for all customers or all orders. It depends on different users and order values. However, it is not confirmed that whether the fee is based on the total order value, customer location, transaction value, or any other parameter could not be immediately confirmed. Zomato has not yet issued an official clarification regarding this new charge.

Earlier this year in March, Zomato has increased platform fees from Rs 12.50 to Rs 4.90. Currently the platform fees is shown as Rs 14.99(excluding GST) on the company’s mobile app.
