Governor Accepts Siddaramaiah’s Resignation, DK Shivakumar Set to Take Oath: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had tendered his resignation on Thursday. Now, Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot has accepted his resignation. The Governor was not present when Siddaramaiah submitted his resignation; he then handed it over to the Secretary. However, upon his arrival in Bengaluru, the Governor accepted Siddaramaiah’s resignation. With this, the path has now been cleared for D.K. Shivakumar to become the state’s Chief Minister. According to sources, D.K. Shivakumar’s swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place on June 1 or June 3.
It is worth noting that a dispute regarding the Chief Minister’s post in Karnataka had been ongoing for several months. However, to resolve this conflict, the Congress party convened a major meeting in Delhi. Both leaders involved, Siddaramaiah and D.K. Shivakumar, attended this meeting. During the meeting, it was affirmed that whatever decision Rahul Gandhi takes would be final and binding. Consequently, Siddaramaiah ultimately had to tender his resignation. Meanwhile, D.K. Shivakumar is now set to take the oath as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka next week. Before this, D.K. Shivakumar had repeatedly staked his claim for the Chief Minister’s position on several occasions.
In fact, following his resignation from the post of Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah also held a press conference. During the press conference, he stated, “Having been asked by the High Command to resign, I have submitted my resignation today. I am fully confident that when the Governor arrives, he will accept it, as this is to be done in accordance with the Constitution.”
