District ranks 5TH richest in India, per capita income over 8 lakh: Solan district of Himachal Pradesh is the center of discussion these days. Solan is a famous tourist spot in the country. According to the Economic Survey 2024-25, Solan has become the fifth richest district in the country in terms of GDP per capita.
Solan district’s per capita income is almost three times higher than Himachal Pradesh’s average income of 2.83 lakh rupees. In Solan, the per capita income has reached 8.10 lakh rupees.
1. Rangareddy district of Telangana, which tops the ranking with an average income of Rs 11.46 lakh.
2. Gurugram in Haryana secures second pposition, where the average income is Rs 9.05 lakh.
3. It is followed by Bangalore Urban (Rs 8.93 lakh) and Gautam Buddha Nagar (Rs 8.48 lakh).
According to the report, Solan has made its place in this list because of its industrial base. More than 90 percent of Himachal Pradesh’s industry is concentrated in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh (BBN) industrial cluster. The area has the largest pharmaceutical hub in Asia, with around 350 manufacturing units.
You will be surprised to know that every third medicine used in the country is manufactured in BBN. It is being told that about three lakh people are employed in the industries of Solan. Not only this, BBN is also the largest transport union in Asia, which has about 10 thousand vehicles. Also there are 3100 commercial vehicles. These industries contribute about 29 per cent to the state’s GST and consume about 45 per cent of the state’s total electricity consumption.
