Husband slapped in public, wife sets herself and 2 sons on fire: A woman allegedly set herself and her children ablaze after husband slapped her publicly. The incident has sparked panic among locals. Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
A horrifying incident has come to light from Shivagiri area of Tenkasi, Tamilnadu. The deceased were identified as Mariammal(28) and her 2 sons, Kabineswaran(6) and Rabineswaran(4). According to police Mariammal along with her two sons went to watch traditional Kummi dance festival at Vadakasi Amman temple in the village. Meanwhile, her huband Kalipandi arrived at the festival in a drunken state. He also slapped his wife publicly.
Feeling humilated, his wife returned home with their 2 sons. Upon arriving home, in anger, she locked the door from inside. After this she set her two young children on fire and then doused herself with kerosene. By the time police arrived the spot Mariammal and her sons had died.

Shivagiri police have registered a case in this matter. Investigation are underway to find out the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.
During investigation police also learned that Kalipandi is addicted to alcohol. Police has taken him to the custody and interrogating for further information.
