Big blow to Mamata; TMC MP Prakash Chik Baraik resigns: Trinamool Congress(TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Prakash Chik Baraik resigned Thursday. He will soon meet the Rajya Sabha Speaker and submit his resignation. Earlier, Rajya Sabha MPs Sushmita Dev and Shukendu Shekhar Roy had resigned from the Trinamool Congress and their posts.
Prakash Chik wrote in his resignation letter, ‘I resign from Rajya Sabha membership with immediate effect. Please accept it. I express my sincere gratitude to the Honourable Deputy Chairman and all the office bearers of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat for all the cooperation and assistance given during my tenure as a member of the Rajya Sabha.’

Prakash Chik Baraik is one of the senior leaders of TMC. He is a resident of Alipurduar district of West Bengal. Known as a prominent tribal face of TMC. Before joining politics, he was active as a tea garden employee and labor leader. Prakash is considered to be very close to Abhishek Banerjee in Trinamool Congress. The party sent him unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal in August 2023. He also contested from Alipurduar constituency in 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He graduated in Commerce in 2004 from Suryasen College Siliguri affiliated to University of North Bengal.
