Delhi Assembly Speaker Receives Bomb Threat Email, Police Investigate
Delhi Legislative Assembly Receives Bomb Threat, Email Sent to Speaker: Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta received a bomb threat via email, targeting the Assembly building and the Vidhan Sabha Delhi Metro station. Threat emails were also sent to Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
Delhi Police and security agencies were immediately alerted. Dog squads, Assembly security teams, and the North District bomb disposal squad conducted thorough searches, but nothing suspicious was found. The emails were received early in the morning: the Assembly email at 7:28 am and Speaker Gupta’s email at 7:49 am.
Such threats are part of a recurring trend. In July 2025, 40–50 schools received bomb threat emails, and in September, over 300 schools and several airports were targeted by a group called “Taro Rise 111.” In 2026, over 15 schools, the historic Red Fort, and the Delhi Assembly received similar threats.
Investigations reveal that most emails were sent using VPNs and encrypted servers to conceal identities. In some cases, minors were found to be responsible, including a 12-year-old who admitted sending threats to close his school as a prank. Police continue to monitor and investigate all threats.
