Great News For Railway Passengers : There is great news for lakhs of train passengers. The Railways has now taken a big decision on a long-standing demand. From mid-April, the superfast status of 10 major trains of the country will be removed. Along with this, the fares of these trains will also be reduced, which will reduce the burden on the general passengers. Importantly, all these trains will now run under the General Express category and their numbers will also be changed.

The new railway system will be implemented between April 13 and 16. The trains whose superfast tag is being removed include the Bibhuti Express from Prayagraj Rambagh to Howrah and the Netaji Express from Howrah to Kalka via Prayagraj Junction. The Bibhuti Express halts at 31 stations between Rambagh and Howrah, while the Netaji Express halts at 38 stations, including Prayagraj Junction.

In addition, trains like Howrah-Dehradun Kumbh Express, Howrah-Dehradun Upasana Express and Howrah-Jammu Tawi Himgiri Express, which run via Varanasi and Lucknow, are also being excluded from the superfast list. These trains have a large number of stoppages, which has increased the travel time compared to regular express trains.

The removal of superfast status will provide the greatest relief to the public. Currently, the Railways levies additional fares based on the class of superfast trains. This decision will result in a saving of about Rs 30 in sleeper class and about Rs 45 in AC coaches (2AC/3AC). Although this amount may seem small, it is good news for middle-class families travelling with their families and daily commuters.
