Hasi Rani Rath secured 1,64,427 votes, including 1,63,630 votes from the EVM count and 797 postal votes, accounting for 75.94 per cent of the total votes polled
Hasi Rani Rath wins Nandigram bypoll by over 1.22 lakh votes: Hasi Rani Rath, BJP candidate, won the Nandigram Assembly bypoll in West Bengal. She defeated congress candidate Milan Pradhan by a margin of 1,22,753 votes. Rath secured 1,64,427 votes while Pradhan received 41,674 votes.
Communist Party of India candidate Santi Gopal Giri finished third with 5,779 votes. All India Secular Front candidate Md. Ali Sabe Miraj Khan polled 1,607 votes, Democratic Trinamool Congress candidate Ehteshmul Haque secured 853 votes, and independent candidate Sayed Mahammad received 723 votes.
Hasi Rani Rath is the mother of Chandranath Rath, Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari’s aide, who was shot dead at at Madhyamgram in North 24 Parganas district on May 6, 2026. According to the ECI, Rath secured 1,64,427 votes, including 1,63,630 votes from the EVM count and 797 postal votes, accounting for 75.94 per cent of the total votes polled. Rath’s victory further cements West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari political hold over the seat.
Pradhan finished second with 41,674 votes, comprising 41,521 EVM votes and 153 postal votes. He secured 19.25 per cent of the total votes polled.

In a post on X, Adhikari congratulated Rath on what he described as a historic and record-breaking victory. He said the verdict reflected voters’ faith in the development agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP’s central leadership.
He also credited the party’s grassroots workers and organisational leadership for the victory, praising their sustained campaigning and efforts on the ground.
