The Odisha Police has deputed 15 senior IPS officers to conduct comprehensive monitoring and inspections across 17 districts.
IPS officers assigned to oversee 17 districts: In a major initiative, the Odisha Police has deputed 15 senior IPS officers to conduct comprehensive monitoring and inspections across 17 districts.
Under this special drive, senior officers including Additional Directors General of Police (ADGPs) and Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) will personally visit their assigned districts. They will assess the overall functioning of police stations, review law and order management, and thoroughly examine complaints of alleged custodial misconduct or use of third-degree methods.
The officers have been directed to submit detailed reports to the Director General of Police within 15 days of completing their inspections. The exercise is scheduled to commence from July.
As part of the drive, Vinaytosh Mishra, IPS (DGP, CID, CB, Odisha) has been given dual charge of Balasore and Bhadrak districts. Sanjeeb Panda, IPS (ADGP) will oversee Koraput and Rayagada. However, the remaining 13 officers have been assigned one district each.
