SJTMC approved a proposal to prepare a new set of gold ornaments for lord Jagannath, lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra for their ‘Suna Besha’
Lord Jagannath will glitter in new gold ornaments: Shree Jagannath Temple Management Committee(SJTMC) on Saturday approved a proposal to prepare a new set of gold ornaments for lord Jagannath, lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra for their ‘Suna Besha’. ‘SJTA will make the ornaments from its own resources. We have also planned to seek donations from interested individuals and organisations in this regard,’ said SJTA chief administrator Arabinda Padhee.
The approval was accorded by the 12th-century shrine’s apex decision making body at a meeting chaired by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb. Addressing the media persons after the meeting Padhee said, ‘During inventorisation of Ratna Bhandar, we had done digital documentation of Suna Besha ornaments kept in Ratna Bhandar. We will use that information to craft new set of ornaments. The management committee approved the proposal today and protocols to be followed would be framed by SJTA.’ A technical committee will be framed to oversee the process Padhee added.
The expenditure on new ornaments would be borne by SJTA. Devotees willing to contribute can also donate, he said.
Suna Besha of the lords are held on ‘Bahuda Ekadashi’, Pousha Purnima, Dashahara, Kartik Purnima and Dola Purnima.
