Lovepreet lifted 388 kg in the 110 kg weight category of men’s weightlifting. Seema, threw 58.65 meters in her third attempt.
Lovepreet won silver in weightlifting and Seema Bags Discus Bronze: A total of two medals added on the 8th day of the Commonwealth Games 2026. Lovepreet Singh won a silver medal in weightlifting, while Seema Kaliramana managed to win a bronze medal in discus throw.
Late on Thursday night, Lovepreet lifted 388 kg in the 110 kg weight category of men’s weightlifting. He lifted 176 kg in snatch and 212 kg in clean and jerk. While, New Zealand’s Liti won the gold medal in the clean and jerk with a Games record total of 389 kg (166 kg + 223 kg). Andrew Griffiths of England won the bronze medal with 356 kg (165 kg + 191 kg).
Seema, on the other hand, threw 58.65 meters in her third attempt. 27-year-old Seema has made a brilliant comeback to the Games after becoming a mother. Seema fouled in her fourth, fifth and sixth attempts, but her throw of 58.65m took her to the podium. Jamaica’s Samantha Hall (61.66m) won the gold and Canada’s Julia Tonks (60.67m) won the silver medal in this event. Nidhi Rani, another Indian, finished fourth with a throw of 53.19 metres.
With this India’s medal tally climbs to 17. These include 3 Gold, 10 Silver and 4 Bronze. Now, India is ranked 10th in the medal table.
