Man kills lover over suspected mobile chats: A 38-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her lover in a dispute over mobile chat. The accused has been arrested following police encounter on Sunday night.

The victim has been identified as Reshma Khatoon alias Sana. The accused has been identified as Hemal Khakharia alias Dilip(42), residence of Bhavnagar Gujarat. Currently he was living in a teacher’s colony in Madiyahu. According to police sources Dilip met Reshma 2 months ago. Reshma left her husband to live with her lover. Hemal brought her from Babatpur in Varanasi to his accommodation at teacher’s colony on July 4. One day a dispute broke out between them over a mobile phone chat. The argument escalated significantly and enraged Dilip slit the woman’s throat with a sharp knife whike she was asleep.

He purchased black polythene bags from the market to wrap the mutilated body parts before disposal. The mutilated body of  the woman was recovered from bushes near Ranipur Bypass under Madiyahu police station limits on Sunday morning. After being informed by the locals a police team led by the SHO launched an investigation to identify the victim and trace the accused.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted acussed near the Ramnagar Block Gate. He was arrested after being injured  in the encounter.

Police seized a .32 bore country-made pistol, two live cartridges, two spent cartridge cases, the knife allegedly used in the murder, the remaining body parts, a mobile phone and a motorcycle from the accused’s possession. A probe is on in the matter.
