In a shocking incident, a sub-inspector in Bareilly was accused of sexually abusing a woman. Following this allegation the police has registered a complaint and suspended the sub- inspector.
According to the complaint lodged by woman this incident came to light on July 7, during filing of the complaint against the accused. The woman also provided some evidence including photographs and videos with the accused sub-inspector. The accused has been identified as Naresh Babu, currently stationed at Sirauli police station in Bareilly.
The woman said that due to some differences she has been living separately from her husband since 2022. In 2025, she went to Baradari police station to file a complaint against her husband and in-laws. There she met Naresh Babu, a sub-inspector stationed there at that time. The sub-inspector after hearing her complaint assured her of help. The woman alleged that the sub-inspector also made physical relationship with her on the pretext of marriage and job.

Senior Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya said that the departmental investigation of the entire case has been handed over to Superintendent of Police South Anshika Verma. Further action will be taken based on their investigation report.
