An investigation has been launched on Thursday into allegations that the General Surgery MD/MS question paper for the 2023–26 batch in the All Odisha Medical PG examination was circulated via a WhatsApp group. It was further alleged that answers were being sent from certain WhatsApp numbers during the test, leading authorities to prohibit mobile phones and electronic devices at examination centres.

Professor Harekrishna Dalai, Chairman of MKCG MCH, said the authorities held a virtual meeting after receiving complaints about the paper leak. He assured that the Vice-Chancellor’s instructions for the remaining exams would be followed strictly.

A medical student and a senior staff member are under the scanner for their alleged involvement in the paper leak. Reports further suggest the question papers were sold for large sums of money, with copies also reaching a private medical college and hospital in Bhubaneswar. The alleged irregularities are said to have occurred during the PG examination held on July 27, which covered over 20 subjects. Following complaints, the matter was formally reported to the Odisha University of Health Sciences.

Acting on the allegations, a team from the university recently visited MKCG Medical College and Hospital to conduct a preliminary inquiry. The team is currently examining the circumstances surrounding the leak and working to identify those responsible.
