Price Cap Announced on 30 Medicines; Check the Complete List
MRPs Set for 30 Medicines Including Vitamin D3 and Methylcobalamin: To ensure that essential medicines remain affordable and easily available to the public, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) of 30 drug formulations. The decision was announced through a notification issued on May 27, 2026, and the revised prices have come into effect immediately.
The medicines covered under the new pricing order include several commonly used formulations such as Vitamin D3 Oral Solution, Calcium, Methylcobalamin, L-Methylfolate Calcium, Pyridoxal-5 Phosphate, Alginate Raft-Forming Oral Suspension, Bilastine-Montelukast Tablets, Bisoprolol Fumarate, Atorvastatin-Fenofibrate Tablets, and Amlodipine Tablets. These medicines are widely prescribed for vitamin deficiencies, bone health, allergies, heart-related conditions, and other health issues.
Among the medicines listed, the NPPA has fixed the retail price of a tablet containing Vitamin D3, Calcium, Methylcobalamin, Pyridoxal-5 Phosphate, and L-Methylfolate Calcium at ₹19.78 per tablet. Similarly, the price of Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate Tablets, commonly used to manage cholesterol levels, has been set at ₹18.46 per tablet.
According to the NPPA, fixing medicine prices helps protect consumers from unreasonable price variations and ensures greater transparency in the pharmaceutical market. Manufacturers and marketing companies will now be required to sell these medicines at the approved rates.
The move is expected to provide relief to patients by making essential medicines available at fair and regulated prices across the country.
