Nineteen Hospitalised After Diarrhoea Outbreak In Hostel: At least 19 girl students were hospitalised after a diarrhoea outbreak in a hostel in Mayurbhanj district. The district administration and health department are monitoring the situation at the school to stop the outbreak and ensure students’ safety.

According to official sources, diarrhea outbreak affected more than 30 girl students in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) hostel at Sargada in Bijatola block of Mayurbhanj district. The incident triggered concern among school authorities and local residents. Nineteen of affected students have been admitted to the Rairangpur Sub-divisional Hospital.

The students began showing symptoms of diarrhea on Thursday. The situation escalated rapidly , prompting immediate intervention by the health department. Though the exact cause of the outbreak is yet to be confirmed, contaminated food or drinking water is suspected. Health officials are keeping a close watch on the remaining students and have strengthened arrangements for safe food and potable drinking water to prevent further spread of the illness.

Bijatola Block Development Officer Banshidhar Khosla and Block Education Officer (BEO) Dilip Kumar Nanda visited the Rairangpur Sub-divisional Hospital and reviewed the health condition of the affected students.
