Pakistani Drone Activity Increases in Jammu and Kashmir Ahead of Republic Day
Pakistani Drones Seen in Jammu and Kashmir Before Republic Day: Pakistani drone activity has sharply increased along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Republic Day, prompting security forces to go on high alert.
According to security agencies, more than five drones were spotted in different areas near the border in recent days. One drone was successfully hit by Army fire in the Nowshera sector, while others were tracked and monitored.
In response to the growing threat, security has been tightened across border areas. The Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), and other agencies have increased surveillance and deployed additional personnel to prevent infiltration and any possible terror-related activity. Continuous monitoring is underway using advanced equipment.
On Saturday, January 10, a suspicious pigeon was caught near the LoC in the Akhnoor sector by a local boy in Karah village. The pigeon had rings with markings and contact numbers on both legs and stamps on its wings linked to a pigeon club in Nowshera, Pakistan. After receiving information, security forces seized the pigeon and began an investigation to determine its purpose.
In another major development, security forces on Friday night recovered a consignment of arms dropped by a Pakistani drone in Palora village of Ghagwal, near the international border in Samba district. The seized items included two pistols, three magazines, 16 live rounds, and one grenade. Officials believe the weapons were meant to be delivered to terrorists or their local contacts.
The recent incidents have raised serious concerns about cross-border infiltration attempts ahead of national celebrations. Authorities have assured that strict vigilance is being maintained to ensure the safety and security of the region during Republic Day.
