CM Expresses Condolences After Gas Leak Deaths of Odisha Workers

Tamil Nadu Gas Leak Incident: Two Odia Workers Died: Seven workers died in an ammonia gas leak at a seafood processing plant near Periyapalayam in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvallur district. Two of the deceased were Odia women workers.

Over 100 workers were present when the leak occurred, causing sudden breathing problems, fainting, and other severe health issues. More than 60 workers are undergoing treatment, and 10 are in critical condition in Chennai’s Stanley Medical College Hospital.

The exact cause of the leak is under investigation. Officials said more than 300 workers are employed at the factory.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep sorrow and condoled the deaths. He also assured support for the affected families and said the state government is in touch with Tamil Nadu authorities.

Three senior Odisha officials have been sent to Tiruvallur to coordinate relief and help bring back the bodies of the deceased.
