Vaibhav gets team India Jersey, gets emotional on wearing for first time: After a splendid performance in junior cricket, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is now ready to make his debut in Team India. Vaibhav, along with the Indian team, has left Chennai for the two-match T20 series against Ireland on Tuesday.
BCCI shared a video on their X handle, in which they were given the national team kit. In this kit, Vaibhav Suryavanshi jumped for joy after seeing his jersey. It also revealed the jersey number Vaibhav will wear in his international debut. Vaibhav Suryavanshi will wear jersey number 3 and enter the field.
Vaibhav after opening the kit box said, ‘I have no words to describe it. What I had held the bat for since the first day, my dream came true today. Today everything came true. I was so happy when I saw the T-shirt. It was like a dream come true for me. I couldn’t react.’
BCCI had approved that Vaibhav’s parents accompany him on the Ireland tour. The first T20 match of the series between India and Ireland will be played on June 26, while the second match is on June 28. While Sooryavanshi has earned his place in India’s T20I squad, he faces stiff competition for a spot in the playing XI. The young batter will have to compete with the likes of Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan for the two opening slots. Sooryavanshi was given the No. 3 jersey, previously worn by Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina.
