Women will get ₹2,500 monthly under Mahila Samriddhi Yojana: The Delhi government is set to roll out the much awaited ‘Mahila Samriddhi Yojana’ on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan this year. The scheme, initiated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will benefit women from economically weaker sections.
The scheme, ‘Mahila Samriddhi Yojana’ is expected to be formally launched on August 28, 2026. Under the scheme, economically weaker women of Delhi aged 21-60 years will be given 2500 rupees every month through Direct Benefit Transfer. A provision of Rs 5110 crore has been made for the scheme in the budget for 2026-27. Around 20-22 lakh women will be benefitted come under the scheme. CM Rekha Gupta had said that it may take some time to implement the scheme. We will ensure that every eligible beneficiary can access the financial assistance without procedural hurdles. Officials said preparations are in the final stage, with discussions underway with banks for fund disbursement and the online application portal ready to go live once the eligibility criteria are finalized. The plan is yet to be formally announced by the Delhi government, sources said.
What is special about the plan?
Benefit to economically weaker women aged 21-60 years
Annual family income should be between ₹2.50-3 lakh
A fund of ₹5110 crore has been earmarked for this scheme
Ration card holder women will be given priority in this scheme
Women in government jobs, income tax, government pensioners and four-wheeler owners are excluded from the scheme
Registration process:
Registration will be conducted entirely through online mode. Applicants will have to provide Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, gender, father/mother’s name, marital status, mobile number and e-mail along with duration of stay in Delhi and bank account linked to Aadhaar. A self-declaration form will also have to be submitted.
