IMD Warns Farmers of Crop Damage Amid Storm and Heavy Rain Threat
IMD Issues Rain and Thunderstorm Alert for 13 States Till May 15: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh warning for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across 13 states on May 10. According to the forecast, wind speeds may reach up to 80 to 85 kilometers per hour in several regions, especially in eastern India. A cyclonic circulation over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and another over eastern Rajasthan are influencing the current weather pattern. The IMD has advised farmers and residents to remain cautious as severe storms may damage crops and disrupt normal life.
States including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over the next few days. In Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, multiple districts have been placed under yellow alert, while Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh may witness strong winds reaching up to 65 kmph. Meanwhile, Delhi is likely to experience severe heatwave conditions, with temperatures touching 38 degrees Celsius on May 10.
The weather department has also warned of heatwave conditions in western Rajasthan and Gujarat between May 10 and 15, with isolated parts of Madhya Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan expected to face extreme heat on May 12 and 13. Cities like Jaipur and Bhopal may record temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Authorities have urged people to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and follow safety advisories issued by local administrations.
