Heavy Rain Alert: IMD issues yellow warnings for several districts

On July 12, similar conditions with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are expected at isolated places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts.

Heavy Rain Alert: IMD issues yellow warnings for several districts: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warnings for several districts in Odisha. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong surface winds are forecasted across the state from July 10 to July 15.

The southwest monsoon continues to remain active over Odisha. On July 10, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface winds (speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph) are very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore and Bhadrak districts. Strong surface winds (up to 40-50 kmph) are expected at isolated places over Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are likely over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts. The warning continues on July 11 with thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds (30-40 kmph) very likely at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Boudh districts.

On July 12, similar conditions with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are expected at isolated places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts.

The forecast for July 13 indicates thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty surface winds (30-40 kmph) at one or two places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, and Balangir districts.

On July 14, the yellow warning persists for thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) over Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, and Balangir districts. Additionally, heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places over Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts. Finally, on July 15, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.

The IMD has advised people not to move outside unnecessarily as lightning and strong winds can pose risk to life and property. Farmers and fishermen are also urged to monitor updates closely before venturing out.
