This was the 10th time that the Senate had tried to stop the war, and this time the resolution passed by a vote of 50-48.
Big blow to Trump, the US Senate passes resolution to halt Iran war: US President Donald Trump has faced a major political setback regarding the Iran war. For the first time, the US Senate has passed such a resolution, directing him to withdraw US military forces from hostilities with Iran.
The US Senate approved a ‘War Powers Resolution’ for the first time on Tuesday. The purpose of this resolution is to prevent US military action against Iran. This was the 10th time that the Senate had tried to stop the war, and this time the resolution passed by a vote of 50-48. The decision comes at a time when President Donald Trump is trying to save the deal with Iran and garner congressional support for war-related spending. As soon as there was a setback in the Senate, Trump took to social media and said that the Senate had benefited the enemies. Trump has also attacked the 4 members of his Republican Party who have voted in favour of this proposal. This proposal is considered to be a big and shocking change compared to previous attempts.
Trump wrote on Social Media, ‘…4 Republican Losers have also voted with the Democrats. Iran is asking my people what this all means. These senators have made my job more difficult, but I will get it done one way or the other, because I always get my job done.’
