Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi bids farewell: Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi is retiring from his post on 30 June 2026. He has made the Indian Army completely hi-tech by adding more than 50,000 drones to the army fleet and creating a digital network like ‘Bhairav Battalion’ within two years.
During his farewell speech, he said, ‘Today I am handing over this responsibility to General Dheeraj Seth. He is an experienced soldier and a capable leader. I am confident that under his leadership, the Indian Army will continue to achieve greater heights while maintaining its illustrious traditions, professionalism and determination. Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi’s work and vision have earned him a historic title as the ‘Drone General’. the Indian Army has maintained its readiness, balance and vigilance on all fronts. Our deployment along the northern borders under ‘Operation Snow Leopard’ has been done with strength and vigilance. Even on the Western Front, the Army has performed its duties with utmost seriousness and restraint; ‘Operation Sindoor’ is a prime example of this. In all matters related to national security, the Indian Army has conducted its operations with clear goals, discipline and sense of responsibility and has effectively shaped the definition of the ‘New Normal’, he said.
