Royal Challengers Bengaluru Defend Their Crown, Win Second Straight IPL Title
RCB Make History: Back-to-Back IPL Champions Under Rajat Patidar: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the IPL title for the second year in a row by defeating the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 2026 final under captain Rajat Patidar.
Chasing a target of 156 runs, RCB reached 157/5 in 18 overs. Virat Kohli played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 75 runs, while Venkatesh Iyer gave the team a flying start with 32 runs off 16 balls. The pair added 62 runs for the first wicket in just 4.3 overs.
After RCB lost a few quick wickets, Tim David supported Kohli with 24 runs, helping the team complete an easy chase. Rashid Khan took two wickets for GT, while Mohammed Siraj, Arshad Khan, and Kagiso Rabada picked up one each.
Earlier, GT struggled with the bat after losing their openers early. Washington Sundar was the only standout performer, scoring 50 runs off 37 balls. No other GT batter crossed 20 runs. For RCB, Rasikh Salam Dar took three wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood claimed two wickets each.
